I spent the past Sunday afternoon (6/14/09) in attendance at the first of this year’s Summer Concert Series in my hometown, enjoying the “music from another millenium performed by The Rock and Roll Relics!”
This series has been going on for many years now but I had only caught the tail end of one concert a few years ago.
Recently my Sunday situation has changed and I was looking for something to do and decided listening to Oldies is (of course) right up my alley. So what did I have to lose?
As it turned out it was one of the best decisions I had made in a long time. I had the time of my life and the band was awesome.
They played flawless cover renditions of music from the late fifties (doo-wop), the Sixities (inclusive of Motown and the Beatles) and even a venture into the Seventies with one of the anthems of that decade — BTO’s Takin’ Care of Business!
I knew every word to every song, as did most of the audience, which BTW was young, old and in between and every one was singing. It was just beautiful.

There was also lots of dancing along with the singing – from swing to the cha cha to the twist with hula hoops.
I heard tunes by Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Drifters, The Everly Brothers, Martha & The Vandellas, The Temptations, The Ventures, and much much more.
If you ever see or hear of The Rock & Roll Relics coming to your town, be sure to take in their show if you are an oldies music lover! Click on their name in this sentence to see their Web presence.
All concerts in this Summer Series in Frederick, MD start at 7 pm. The 2009 schedule can be found here.
